Who we are

Hob-hob started with Shu-Mei, a world citizen who made Switzerland home while building a career in marketing in Zurich. Life was busy and although she wanted to make more time to try new things and get out of the daily routine, fixed schedules and traditional courses were often difficult to fit in. She was looking for something more spontaneous and local and kept thinking that there must be someone nearby doing exactly what she would love to learn.

Then Constantin joined the journey. Working in finance but social by nature, he came from France and knew what it was like to be new to a city, always looking for things to do, new activities to try and people with similar interests to meet. For him, discovering a city was not just about finding places, but about meeting the people behind them and sharing experiences together. Yet finding the right people often meant jumping between different groups, platforms and countless messages, making something as simple as practising a hobby much more complicated than it should be.

What brought them together was a shared love for connecting people and a simple belief that we should spend less time behind screens and more time doing things together in real life. They believe hobbies are one of the most natural ways to make that happen, whether it is discovering something new, meeting people nearby or simply enjoying something you love together. This is what moves us to build hob-hob. A place that makes it easier to discover hobbies through local people and create more real experiences and connections.

How much does it cost?

The cost of experiences is set by the creator and varies based on the type of session, its duration, and other factors. Each experience listing includes clear pricing details defined by the creator, so you’ll know exactly what to expect before booking.

Where do the experiences take place?

The experiences on hob-hob typically take place in person, but some may also be offered online. The location is defined by the creator and can include:
• A cozy studio: A professional or personal space set up by the creator.
• A public spot: Think vibrant outdoor areas, charming cafés, or other shared spaces.
• The creator's home: A personal and welcoming environment for the session.

Can I book a private session?

Yes, some creators offer the option to book a private session just for you or in a group with your family and friends! You’ll see a special tag for these private sessions. You can send a request for a private session at no cost, and the creator will review it. You’ll only be charged if the creator approves the private session.

Can I cancel or reschedule a booking?

Yes, you can cancel based on our agreed cancellation policy. Cancel more than 24 hours in advance to get a full refund. If you cancel within 24 hours, refunds aren’t available. If a creator cancels, you’ll have the option to reschedule or get your money back.

Note: hob-hob connects explorers and creators but doesn’t directly handle cancellations or disputes.

Unsere Mission ist einfach. Wir möchten es Menschen leichter machen, kreative Hobbys im Alltag zu entdecken und zu geniessen und gleichzeitig lokalen Creators einen Ort geben, an dem sie ihre Leidenschaft mit anderen teilen können.

DIE MENSCHEN HINTER HOB-HOB

Hob-hob begann mit Shu-Mei, einer Weltbürgerin, die in der Schweiz ein Zuhause gefunden und sich in Zürich eine Karriere im Marketing aufgebaut hat. Der Alltag war voll und obwohl sie sich mehr Zeit nehmen wollte, um Neues auszuprobieren und aus der täglichen Routine auszubrechen, liessen sich feste Termine und klassische Kurse oft nur schwer integrieren. Sie suchte nach etwas Spontanerem und Lokalem und dachte immer wieder: Irgendwo in der Nähe muss es doch jemanden geben, der genau das macht, was sie gerne lernen würde.

Dann kam Constantin dazu. Er arbeitet im Finanzbereich, ist von Natur aus sehr sozial und kam aus Frankreich nach Zürich. Er wusste, wie es ist, neu in einer Stadt zu sein und ständig nach Aktivitäten, neuen Erlebnissen und Menschen mit ähnlichen Interessen zu suchen. Für ihn bedeutete eine Stadt zu entdecken nicht nur, neue Orte kennenzulernen, sondern vor allem die Menschen dahinter und gemeinsame Erlebnisse. Doch die richtigen Leute zu finden bedeutete oft, zwischen verschiedenen Gruppen und Plattformen zu wechseln und unzählige Nachrichten zu schreiben. So wurde etwas so Einfaches wie gemeinsam einem Hobby nachzugehen unnötig kompliziert.

Was die beiden zusammengebracht hat, ist die gemeinsame Freude daran, Menschen zu verbinden und die Überzeugung, dass wir weniger Zeit vor Bildschirmen und mehr Zeit gemeinsam im echten Leben verbringen sollten. Für sie sind Hobbys eine der natürlichsten Möglichkeiten dafür, egal ob man etwas Neues entdeckt, Menschen in der Nähe kennenlernt oder einfach gemeinsam etwas macht, das man liebt. Genau das motiviert uns, hob-hob aufzubauen. Einen Ort, der es einfacher macht, Hobbys durch lokale Menschen zu entdecken und mehr echte Erlebnisse und Verbindungen zu schaffen.
